1. Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Beaver Dam Productions ("we", "us", "the Provider") covering your use of swgohscanner.com and everything it offers ("the Service"). By creating an account, entering an ally code, or otherwise using the Service, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Who may use the Service

• You must be 18 years of age or older. The Service is for adults only. By using it you confirm that you are at least 18.
• You must be able to form a binding contract under the laws of your location.
• One account per person. You may not create multiple accounts or share your account with others.
• During the beta (planned, not yet live), access requires an invite code. An invite code may be used once, is bound to the Google identity that redeems it, and may not be transferred, sold, or shared.

3. What the Service is

The Service analyses a Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes ("SWGOH") player's roster. It:

1. fetches the roster from the game's own servers, using the ally code you provide, through an open-source bridge called comlink;
2. runs a deterministic analysis engine that produces roster facts: team completion, farming priorities, mod and zeta gaps, and similar;
3. uses an AI language model to write a plain-English review of those facts and to answer your questions about them.

The Service is advisory only. Its output is one opinion about how to develop a game roster, produced in the style and methodology of the Rabid Beaver channel. It is not a guarantee of any in-game result. Game balance, unit values, event requirements, and the best farming choices change with every game update, and the Service may lag those changes or get them wrong. You are responsible for your own in-game decisions.

4. Accounts and access

• Sign-in (planned, not yet live) is through Google. We use Google for identity only; we request no other Google permissions.
• You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure and for all activity under your Service account.
• You must tell us promptly at support@swgohscanner.com if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

5. Ally codes — the most important rule

An ally code is a semi-public identifier. Anyone who knows one can enter it. We cannot verify that an ally code belongs to the person who submits it. Therefore:

• You may only submit ally codes that you own, or that you have the explicit permission of the owner to analyse. This is the central acceptable use rule of the Service and is not a formality.
• Submitting someone else's ally code without their permission is a material breach of these Terms and grounds for immediate termination of your account, with no refund of any Patreon membership period.
• If you believe your roster has been scanned without your permission, email privacy@swgohscanner.com; the Privacy Policy explains what we will do.

6. Payments and membership (planned, not yet live)

• Access to the launched Service is provided as a benefit of a paid membership through Patreon. We check your Patreon membership status to decide whether your access is active.
• All billing, renewal, cancellation, and refunds are handled through Patreon under Patreon's Terms of Use and refund policy. We do not process payments and never hold card data. Cancel or manage your membership on Patreon.
• Refunds. Membership payments are generally non-refundable. If you think you have been charged in error, request a refund through Patreon within the window Patreon's policy allows; we review those requests and may grant or decline them at our discretion, and any refund is paid through Patreon. Refunds are not owed for a change in game balance, for advice you disagree with, or for an account terminated for breach of these Terms.
• If your Patreon membership lapses, your access ends at the end of the paid period. Your stored data is kept under the Privacy Policy until you ask for its deletion.
• Tier names, prices, and what each tier includes are set on our Patreon page and may change. Changes apply from your next billing period.
• Beta access via invite code is free, may be withdrawn at any time, and is not a promise of any future free access.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• submit ally codes you do not own or lack permission to analyse (§5);
• scrape, crawl, bulk-download, or systematically copy the Service's analyses, pages, or data, whether by script or by hand;
• resell, republish, or redistribute the Service's output as a product or service of your own. Sharing your own scan with friends or your guild, or showing it in a video or stream, is fine and encouraged;
• place abusive load on the Service, including automated or repeated requests, or attempt to bypass rate limits, invite codes, or membership checks;
• probe, scan, or test the security of the Service or its servers, or attempt to access data that is not yours;
• use the Service to harass, dox, or target another player;
• use the Service in any way that violates the game's own terms or applicable law.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules (§11).

8. Your content and your data

• Your game data stays yours. You grant us a licence to fetch, store, analyse, and display your roster data, and to send the derived summary to our AI provider, for the purpose of running the Service for you. That licence lasts as long as your data is stored with us and ends when it is deleted.
• The text you type into a roster chat is yours. You grant us the same licence over it. Do not enter personal information about other people, or anything confidential, into the chat.
• Sharing (planned, not yet live): you may share a scan only with specific accounts you approve. There are no public links. You are responsible for who you approve.

9. Our intellectual property and third-party rights

• The analysis engine, the curated methodology and datasets (team lists, farming priorities, tier lists), the report layouts, Luna's explanations, and the software of the Service are owned by Beaver Dam Productions. You receive a personal, non-transferable licence to use them through the Service. You may not copy the engine's rules or datasets to build a competing service.
• Non-affiliation. Star Wars, Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, and all related character names, images, and marks are the property of Lucasfilm Ltd., Disney, Electronic Arts Inc., and/or Capital Games. The Service is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or approved by Electronic Arts, Capital Games, Disney, or Lucasfilm. Game names and unit names are used only to identify the game content being analysed. Unit portrait images are loaded from swgoh.gg's public asset server.
• Roster data is fetched from the game through comlink, an open-source community tool that is also not affiliated with the game's publisher.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Please read this section carefully. Beaver Dam Productions is a sole proprietorship, and these clauses define the limits of what you can hold us to.

10a. Provided "as is." The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any defect will be corrected.

10b. Advice may be wrong. The Service's output is generated partly by an AI language model and partly by a rule-based engine built on one creator's methodology. Both can be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong. Team compositions, farming priorities, and speed or relic targets are opinions. We make no promise about any in-game outcome, including arena or Grand Arena placement, Territory Battle or raid results, event completion, or the value of any farm.

10c. Third-party dependencies. The Service depends on systems we do not control: the game's servers and API, comlink, our hosting provider, Google sign-in, Patreon, and our AI provider. If any of them changes, breaks, blocks access, or shuts down, the Service may stop working, in whole or in part, without notice, and we are not liable for that. In particular, the game's publisher may at any time change or restrict access to roster data.

10d. Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Beaver Dam Productions and its owner will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of in-game progress, in-game currency, in-game items, data, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of or related to the Service or these Terms, however caused and under any theory of liability, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid through Patreon for the Service in the three (3) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US $20.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages, so parts of this section may not apply to you. In that case our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law permits.

10e. Indemnity. You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Beaver Dam Productions and its owner from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your submission of an ally code you were not authorised to submit, or your misuse of the Service.

11. Suspension and termination

• By you: stop using the Service at any time. Cancel your Patreon membership on Patreon. Ask us to delete your data under the Privacy Policy.
• By us: we may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms (including §5 and §7), if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. For a breach, no refund is owed. If we decide to discontinue the Service, we will give at least 30 days' notice on the site and stop new membership charges on Patreon before the shutdown date, so that no one pays for a period they cannot use.
• Sections 8 (licence over data already stored, until deletion), 9, 10, 11, and 13 survive termination.

12. Changes to the Service and to these Terms

The Service is under active development. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We may update these Terms; we will post the new version here with a new effective date and, for material changes, notify signed-in users on the site before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new Terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

Please read this section carefully. It affects your legal rights, including your right to bring a claim in court and to participate in a class action.

13a. Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and by the Federal Arbitration Act.

13b. Talk to us first. Before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to email a description of the dispute to privacy@swgohscanner.com and give us 30 days to try to resolve it informally. We agree to do the same before bringing a claim against you.

13c. Binding arbitration. If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, you and Beaver Dam Productions agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, not in court, administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitration will be held in Utah, or by video or telephone if you prefer. The arbitrator's decision is final and may be entered as a judgment in any court with jurisdiction. Fees are allocated under the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules, under which the business pays the greater share.

13d. Small-claims exception. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court in Utah, or in the county where you live, if the claim qualifies for that court.

13e. Class-action waiver. You and Beaver Dam Productions each agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, consolidated, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate claims of different users or preside over any form of class proceeding. If this waiver is found unenforceable for a particular claim, that claim (and only that claim) must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Utah, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

13f. Opt-out. You may opt out of arbitration and the class-action waiver by emailing privacy@swgohscanner.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, stating your account email and that you opt out. If you opt out, disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Utah.

TODO(owner): lawyer review of 13c–13f. Confirm AAA is the right forum for a sole proprietor (per-case business fees run into the low thousands), whether to name a specific Utah county, and that the wording meets current AAA consumer-rule requirements.

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
